Young Naperville Singers hosted its first Boys Power Sing on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at Naperville Bible Church, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All area boys in grades 3 thru 7 were invited. The ninety participants rehearsed in the morning, shared lunch and then presented an informal sing for parents and guests.
Some of the boys shared their feelings about the event. Matt Neylon wrote “Being an 8th grade boy with an unchanged voice, I don’t always fit the junior high ‘world.’ At the Boys Power Sing, there were so many other boys that love music just as much as I do and it was very encouraging. I can’t wait until the next Boys Power Sing because it was so much fun. Plus it showed that singing isn’t just a ‘girly thing to do!’ I’ve gone to similar events sponsored by other organizations, but none of them were so welcoming and uplifting as the YNS BPS. You’d think that after five years of being in YNS I would know that singing is’t just for girls, but the power sing just reminded me of how many boys love music as well, and as far as I’m concerned, the encouragement from BPS was enough to keep me singing for a lifetime! Thanks!!”

Matt Hipskind said “I liked it. I got to meet lots of other kids. We got to sing in front of all the parents. I liked the drumming.”
“The drum part made ‘Take Time in Life’ sound great! It was fun too” shared Grant Myatt.
