2003 Children in Harmony Festival
In May, 2003 Director Angie Johnson, Accompanist Melinda Arnold and members of the Chamber Singers traveled to Orlando, Florida to participate in the “Children in Harmony Choral Festival” held at Disney World. They joined with choirs from New York, Pennsylvania. Louisiana, Michigan, Utah and Illinois to share their gift of song.
Each Choir performed on their own in the Rotunda of the American Adventure Pavilion in Epcot Center. A mass choir of 350 singers joined together to perform in the Theater of the Stars in the MGM Studios. Even though countless hours were spent rehearsing, the children had time to explore and enjoy the many Disney attractions. They returned to Naperville with wonderful memories, and strengthened friendships.
In addition to performing and enjoying Disney World while attending the Children in Harmony Festival, a parent arranged for a tile to be placed on the “Leave a Legacy Wall” in Epcot Center. Each tile in the wall is numbered and YNS’ tile locator address is East 6 H 24-6-7. It says: YNS Chamber - May 2003. The inscription on the wall reads ~ “To the Youngsters of Today, I Say Believe in the Future” Walt Disney.
